Training to lead and support congregations in transition
Missional Leadership at North Park
The 12-credit-hour certificate in missional leadership offers pastors theological foundations for missional health and practical tools to assess and lead missional health in their ministry context. A partnership between North Park Theological Seminary (NPTS) and the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) Missional Vitality Team, the certificate is appropriate for interim pastors, called pastors, chaplains, missionaries, church planters, lay leaders, and vitality specialists.
Certificate requirements
- MNST 6151 – Cultural Dimensions of the Missio Dei
- MNST 6160 – Foundations of Church Health
- MNST 6161 – Missional Challenges and Opportunities in Times of Transition
- MNST 6162 – Missional Leadership Practicum
Program length and modality
Students typically complete this program in two years and can apply the credit hours toward a master’s degree from NPTS. All of the courses are virtual.
Faculty spotlight
Rev. Dr. Mary Hendrickson
Hendrickson earned her Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary and has pastored for more than 20 years, including serving as lead pastor in four congregations. Since 2020, she has served as the director of missional vitality for the ECC. In that capacity, she has worked with congregations in every region and context in the United States, and with the national ECC Missional Vitality Team, has developed a new and relevant suite of vitality resources.
