Profile

Rev. Dr. Mary C. Miller has served the church for more than four decades as a pastor, denominational executive, theological educator, chaplain, author, and speaker. Ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) in 1981, she was among the first generation of Covenant women clergy and has provided leadership across congregational, denominational, and educational settings.

Her pastoral ministry included service in congregations in Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan before joining the Evangelical Covenant Church’s executive leadership team.

From 1999–2005, Miller served as vice president for administration of the ECC, becoming the denomination’s first female officer. During her tenure, she established the denominations’ Human Resources Department, led governance and constitutional initiatives, coordinated Annual Meeting operations, and supported strategic leadership across the ECC.

From 2006–11, she served as director of the Lilly Endowment-funded Making Connections Initiative at North Park Theological Seminary, overseeing a $5 million grant that strengthened partnerships among congregations, pastors, students, and the seminary while enhancing ministry formation and leadership development.

Following her work at North Park, Miller served for more than a decade as a chaplain with Covenant Living Communities and Services, providing spiritual care and leadership in senior living communities.

Throughout her ministry, Miller demonstrated a deep commitment to pastoral care, leadership development, theological education, and the mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Her service has left a lasting impact on congregations, denominational leadership, and generations of emerging ministry leaders.
