North Park Theological Seminary is happy to welcome Dr. Lynn H. Cohick for the Houston Theological Seminary for the The Nils W. Lund Memorial Lectureship
“For Such a Time as This: Women’s Resiliency in the Bible”
Dr. Cohick will explore the stories of Esther, Vashti, and the Wife of Bath alongside the biblical text of 1 Peter, drawing out themes of resiliency, reversal, and wisdom in patriarchal settings. These narratives show how women, often without social power, found ways to assert agency, gain moral ground, and shape outcomes.
Session 1: Esther and Vashti: Women’s Strength and Resiliency
Session 2: 1 Peter and the Wife of Bath in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales: Resiliency from the Most Unlikely Places
