Our Chicago Campus

Welcome to Chicago

Embedded in the North Park neighborhood on the northwest side of the City of Chicago, our historic location is both an urban oasis and a living classroom for theological study and spiritual formation.

A Garden in the City

The campus of North Park Theological Seminary dates to 1893 and today has expanded to the thriving North Park University—Chicago’s city-centered Christian liberal arts school, serving both the Evangelical Covenant Church and students across the Chicago region.

The campus itself has transformed city blocks into an garden oasis of cobblestone and ivy, laughter and study, with an offshoot of the Chicago river flowing through campus.

Nyvall Hall

Named for David Nyvall—New Testament professor and first North Park president—Nyvall Hall hosts our hybrid-digital classrooms, Isaacson worship chapel, faculty offices, prayers rooms for spiritual direction, and a very active community kitchen.

Lina Sandell

The 19th-century author and poet for the Swedish Evangelical Mission, her bronze statue sits just outside our seminary doors, inspiring us “Day by Day” by her resilient trust in God’s faithfulness.

Brandel Library

Our university library is well-equipped for seminary study with biblical commentaries, digital access to leading theological journals, and the available assistance of a theologically-trained research librarian.

Our Neighborhood

60625 is largely regarded as one of the most ethnically diverse zip codes in the entire country—with Swedish, Korean, Lebanese, and Hispanic roots—to name a few.

The people, food, cultures, and languages of the Albany Park and North Park neighborhoods are a rich and engaging context to immerse in the scriptural vision of all peoples before the heavenly throne of God.

Our City

The world-class city of Chicago is the home of the skyscraper (we invented it), the largest collection of Monet outside of Paris, and the home of Chicago Bulls, Bears, and Cubs (plus five more professional sports clubs).

To live in the city is to have endless options for culture, recreation, and entertainment. Enjoy live jazz, the nation’s best chefs, our 17 miles of lakefront beaches, or a quiet stroll in one of our 77 neighborhoods.
