The Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (MACM) at North Park Theological Seminary is a flexible, 36-credit-hour degree (plus three credits of field education) designed for lay people, church staff, and professionals in other fields who want to deepen their understanding of Christian faith and ministry.

Through a combination of academic study and practical reflection, this program provides a solid foundation in Bible, Christian history, theology, spiritual formation, and ministry leadership, along with electives tailored to your interests, including Christian education and intercultural engagement.

While not designed for ordination, the MACM is ideal for those serving in support roles in the church or for individuals seeking to integrate theological insight into their everyday work, volunteer service, or congregational involvement.

This course examines the interpretation and context of the New Testament, emphasizing hermeneutical issues and historical criticism as foundations for theological interpretation. Students study the political, social, and religious contexts of Second Temple Judaism and Greco-Roman society, survey key New Testament books, and explore major theological themes such as Christology and eschatology and the nature of scripture.

SPFM 5211 Intercultural Spirituality: Praying Together

This seminar styled course will seek to address the students’ experiences of community and engagement with cultures other than one’s own through the lens of prayer. The Lord’s Prayer as a common and biblical Christian prayer will frame the conversation as together we explore its ability to cross divides of community, culture, and history.

Dr. Elizabeth Pierre brings her experiences as a pastor, professor, and licensed professional counselor into the classroom to prepare her students. Her goal is that her students integrate their learning into various aspects of their own lives as much as their ministry to others. “I love seeing people fully live out what God has created them to be,” she says.

The prerequisite for entrance to the seminary master’s degree or graduate certificate program at North Park Theological Seminary is a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of a 2.5. In special cases we will review an applicant who does not meet these academic requirements—please contact seminary admissions)

The prerequisite for the dual-degree options is a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of a 3.0.
